Thinking WordPress

Thinking WordPress

I created this personal custom PHP MySQL blog from scratch about a year ago. When I thought about creating a blog, I did know WordPress existed but I really didn’t want to use a 3rd party blog. I sat down for weeks, coding and coding, gaining lots of experience with PHP and MySQL. But reality is that this custom blog which I created with my own hands (it’s my baby) is not so much high tech. I see other personal blogs and they have a lot more blog capabilities such as tags, categories, archives, post RSS, comment RSS, nifty admin options, and a whole lot more. So this makes me feel a bit outdated. Just a bit:). I mean, this blog really gives me everything I need, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have more. If I try continue to keep this blog updated with technology, it will take me weeks to add only some of the ‘cool new blog features’.

Avoiding a whole lot of work, I’ve decided to look into WordPress. It is a free blogging system that can be installed directly in this website, so I don’t have to go to a different website to blog.

With that said, soon you will probably see a much cooler blog at PonchoMartinez.com
