Julian may not yet understand the meaning of the words when I say “I love you”, but he understand my actions. Every time I kiss his cheeks, tickle his belly, play with him, feed him, and pick him up when he points his hand out for me, he understands I am there for him. He knows I love him.
With the times he smiles when he sees me, when he looks for me to play, and when gives me big hugs when I pick him up, I know he is telling me something.. He loves me back.
While saying I love you is so easy, showing with actions is something more – it shows you really mean it.

Even when the house was full, thanks for letting me take an entire booth all to myself and taking care of me while I was getting some work done.

In no way is this a contradiction to giving to others, and if you don’t understand this, it is not your time.
One of the best ways you can give to others is to love yourself first – and by that I mean to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit. You must be at peace and truly happy with yourself because only then, what you give to others, including your family, will be genuine. Many people who have no self love attempt to help others, but not only do they hurt themselves even more, they may hurt the other person by dragging them down.
Most of the acts of giving have less to do with money and more to do with time and emotions. If you look at all the people who are giving back, you will notice that they have already achieved a certain level of self love and happiness.
You can not give what you don’t have and if you want to spread love & positivity, you must first find it in yourself.
As soon as I learned about Safyre Terry’s story last week and how her one wish for Christmas was to fill her Christmas tree with cards, I decided to send her a card with a poem.
It’s amazing to see how many people took the time to make her wish a reality. She received enough cards to fill up her tree and then some (hundreds of thousands)! These type of stories are what give me hope.

I had a foster youth assigned to my caseload, who “ran” not long ago, but I will still get texts from. I managed to draw her in with a promise to take her out for her birthday. Why would you do it if she’s not your case any more? I was asked. “You won’t get reimbursed.” Silly pessimists. Someone has to teach our children the world is good. #30waystogive
Spreading positivity and support when students need it the most!
I was on a call with my boy Julio yesterday and he mentioned he was making a trip to Sac State for a meeting. After I mentioned it would be great to send good vibes to the students, all he said is “How can I help?” Thanks bro for being down for the cause! @julio_cortiz
It was awesome seeing how welcoming students were!

#18 Appreciate your team
The team voted to have a competitive bowling session as a pre Christmas gathering. It was fun and it was a great opportunity to show our appreciation for the team.
If you haven’t done it already, now is a good time to do a little something for your team.
Occasionally destiny puts opportunities in front of us, they are gifts. Most don’t know how to react to it as they think they’ve done nothing to deserve it. Because why would destiny, or even a stranger, give something without asking for something else in return? Many walk away, and ignore the gift – back to what is comfortable and normal. And they will forever look at other people’s fortunes, wishing and hoping they had the same luck.
Those that do take the opportunities and gifts that life brings them, will continue to evolve, reaching places never imagined, and live the life of their dreams. They have discovered that good things can happen when you take the opportunities and gifts that were placed in front of you, for you.
Accept the opportunities and gifts given to you, and don’t spend too much energy trying to understand them. Perhaps it’s because of something you did in the past life. Perhaps it’s because of something you will do in the next.
