#11 Lead an event
It’s one thing to give back on my own, but when a group of people is willing to do the same, I’m all for it! Today we hosted Haircuts & Blowouts for Charity – 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Sacramento Children’s Home. Don’t have an exact amount as of yet, but we raised over $500 in only a few hours.
I had to post this since I organized the event Thank you to the stylists and clients that made this possible
My brother Josue and I drove to Knights Landing this morning to drop off a couple of boxes filled with food for Thanksgiving.
We got in contact with a program that provides assistance to families in need, and they helped us find a couple of single parent families (one with 3 children the other 4). This has been the most touching for me since it reminds me of the struggles of being raised by a single parent.
I was at a restaurant over the weekend and I accidentally dropped my phone when I sat on a chair. I didn’t realize till about 30 minutes later and after I had moved around the venue that my phone was no longer in my pocket. I got immediate stress after thinking about the thousands of photos and videos I’ve taken in the last several months and that I had not backed up!
Luckily a good person found it! A BIG thank you to the person who found and returned my phone to the people working at the restaurant! Good things will come your way!
I must have picked up some good karma these couple of weeks!
Back in the day, I used to carry a 2 dollar bill in my wallet for good luck, I have no idea where I got that from. But it is interesting to see people’s reaction when I hand them a $2 bill to pay for something. There’s something about the lucky 2 dollar bills.
Today I’ve been passing $2 bills to the homeless during my drive or leaving a bill in random places where it’s easy to find.

#7 Feed the meter
Went out to grab some lunch and saw a couple of cars with an expired parking meter. I know how much it sucks and how expensive it can get to get parking tickets, so I decided to feed their meter with a few quarters
When it rains, it pours.
I’m glad I started 30 Ways To Give without putting much thought into it, otherwise I would have found a million reasons, including time and money, why I shouldn’t do it.
I’ve been a little behind because so may things have been happening – a few setbacks, but mostly good things.
Life gets on the way. Everybody gets busy, I get it.
But if I really wanted the easy way out, I would have made a cash donation to a charity organization and be done with it.
I think I’ve already reached some of my goals of this project which include inspiring other people, and learn from this experience.
With that said, a couple of people have already told me they want to be part of this project! That’s exciting!
The other day I received a $7,000+ bill from a phone company that I don’t even use. Someone decided to use my information and take advantage of my credit to open up a new account and go shopping. I wasn’t upset at all when I saw this, I was more surprised that it happened to me. I’m very OCD about protecting my personal information – and it makes me wonder if a company that has all my info got hacked. I may never know.
But after all the time I spent filling reports, clearing up this BS, and adding further protection, I’m going to say I forgive this person. Time is so valuable, I’m not even going to spend it getting bitter about it.
Take two things from this:
Forgive, let old shit go and move on.
Protect your information, especially this holiday season!
People would just look at me and keep driving – said the young man as I drove him to the gas station. He was standing on the side of the road yelling for help to push his car out of the way so he could go get some gas. Not only did I get off to help, but I gave him a ride to the gas station and some money to get gas because he only had 2 dollars.
I post this not to brag but to make this point: Posting nice quotes of giving and pictures of prayers is cool, but it doesn’t mean much if in real life we are not willing to help our neighbor.
#4 It’s the little things that make you happy
Today I surprised The Colour Bar team with some cupcakes from @susiecakesbakery . They were delicious to say the least. As I was writing this post Sue (stylist) was enjoying her Strawberry cupcake and said – “It’s the little things that make you happy”. Ain’t that the truth! ☺️
#2 Clothing And Food For Everyone
This morning we volunteered and donated winter clothing to CAFFE – Clothing And Food For Everyone, a Sacramento program that provides food and clothes to the homeless. Just this morning, over 125 people got food and clothing and almost 30 volunteers participated.
Special thanks to Armando Flores who runs the program and who allowed us to participate.
